Hey there! Thank you for visiting my website. If you made it this far I'm guessing you already know my name is Thomas Doggett and I'm a Chicago area portrait & wedding photographer. However, I’m not your typical photographer and my journey is a bit different than most. My interest in photography grew while serving as an Infantryman in the US Army’s 101st Airborne Division taking photographs of the other soldiers in my unit. After my military service I worked for over 23 years as a Forensic Photographer shooting crimes scenes; including 6 years as a Death Investigator with the DuPage County Coroner’s Office and another 17 years with a local police agency and county major crimes task force in the western suburbs of Chicago. (Yes, I've shot some crazy stuff).

I appreciate the ability to use photography to tell a story and making the transition from telling crime scenes stories to wedding stories was not much different than one would imagine. Both require the use of similar technical skills, cameras, lenses, flashes and hold the fact that the event can never be recreated. I love the pressure of knowing that I only have but one opportunity to get the shot.

My style and approach to shooting weddings applies a generous mix of both modern posing and photojournalism. One minute I am the silent photographer in the background capturing private intimate moments and the next I am directing, composing and lighting to create unique images. Ultimately my goal is to work as hard as I can on your wedding day to craft vibrant and beautiful photographic art for your home.

I earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Photography from the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois
